Training course for teachers of Spanish as a Foreign Language in Valencia, Spain

You can choose between one or two weeks of the face-to-face course in Valencia, Spain.

Course workload

The course consists of 23 hours per week, distributed as follows:

• Observation of 20 Spanish classes
• 2 one-hour training workshops
• 1 individual final tutorial

The course aims to give participating teachers the opportunity to observe, analyse and reflect on teaching practice in a real Spanish as a foreign language teaching environment.

Through classroom observation, participants will be able to:

• Analyse different aspects of classroom dynamics, such as the classroom atmosphere, teacher-student interaction, group management and the different stages of a lesson.
• Observe and reflect on the teacher’s performance, the methodologies used, the management of course content and the resources used during lessons.
• Develop a critical and analytical perspective on teaching practice through the use of observation sheets designed by the school.
• Gain insight into how an ELE teaching programme is academically planned and organised, including lesson planning, teaching materials and course monitoring.
• Become familiar with the tools and platforms used for academic management and the teaching team’s day-to-day work.
• Gain insight into the communication, coordination and internal organisation of a teaching team at a Spanish language school.
• Explore specific aspects of ELE teaching in greater depth through the training workshops, with a focus on approaches and ideas that can be transferred to other language teaching contexts.
• Reflect on what they have observed and relate it to their own teaching experience, identifying ideas, strategies and resources that can be incorporated into their professional practice.

This course is designed for two types of teachers: on the one hand, experienced ELE teachers who want to gain a fresh perspective on the classroom, compare their own teaching practice and discover different approaches to teaching; and on the other, teachers who are starting out in the field of ELE and want to gain first-hand insight into how a real lesson is conducted, how a teacher works and how a Spanish language school operates from within. In both cases, observing real classes provides a valuable opportunity to discover strategies, classroom dynamics and resources that can be applied to different teaching contexts.

During the sessions, participants primarily take on the role of a direct observer, analysing what happens in the classroom in a structured way and having the opportunity to ask teachers questions when appropriate. The training workshops complement this experience with specific ELE teaching content, while interaction with the teachers and the final tutorial throughout the course provide opportunities to address questions, share impressions and reflect on everything observed.

Have a B2/C1 level of Spanish or teaching experience of a minimum of 500 hours

To finalise the registration in the course you must make a payment of 130€ for deposit. You can pay for the rest of the course when you arrive at the school.

Our course for teachers of Spanish will start on the first Monday of each month; except those Mondays which are a holiday. In those cases, the course will start on Tuesday.
